Description:
An amazingly convincing bumblebee mimic, Mallota bautias. It was feeding on cultivated Red-tip (Photinia, I think). According to various notes and references on BugGuide, within this genus in this area: abdomen all dark, eyes not pilose--->Mallota bautias.
