Description:
Neotamias umbrinus subsp. umbrinus (syn. Tamias umbrinus subsp. umbrinus), the Uinta Chipmunk of northern Utah. Differs from the Least Chipmunk by having less defined darker lateral stripes, and by its larger size.Constantly flitting about making it difficult to photograph. Enjoys terrorizing Mallard Ducks and small children. Industrious. Amazing tail. Sept. 27, 2012, Silver Lake area, floating boardwalk, Brighton, Utah, elev. approx. 8,725 ft., adjoining Engelmann Spruce-Subalpine fir-Aspen forest.
