Anisonema cells separating
Description:
[taxonomy:genus=Anisonema] Anisonema is gliding euglenid with two prominent flagella, the longer one trails along behind the cell. Here, two cells have either just finished dividing, or are just leaving conjugation (leave a comment if you know which!). At first I wondered what was this cell with four flagella, before realizing that it was actually two cells in the process of separating. From a sample originally collected 3 days ago.
