Syrphid Fly on Water Hyssop (Brahmi) (6427943391)

Description:
Description: While down on the ground amongst my beloved water hyssop, I noticed this minute (5mm) Syrphid Fly (Toxomerus marginatus) sunning himself on the leaves of the herb of grace. Syrphid flies (flower flies, hover flies) are often very beneficial as their larvae eat aphids. Adults get to feed upon nectar & pollen, not bad as fly food goes!. Date: 24 November 2011, 09:59.
