Description:
Description: At Juno Dunes, this colony of Florida harvester ants (Pogonomyrmex badius) is in a foraging frenzy, harvesting the wind-blown seeds of the Coastalplain goldenasters and storing them in their subterranean granary. This is a real "windfall" for the harvesters as their colony is adjacent to several large goldenaster plants. The below-ground granary workers are overwhelmed by the deliveries and seeds not properly trimmed for storage will be sent back out for more work. Near the end of the video, the colony's Public Relations Ant makes an appeal to hikers and official county vehicles! Please pause and allow to load completely before viewing**.
