Leaves have 3 quite variable leaflets, each lanceolate to oblanceolate, hairless to sparsely hairy and 0.5-4 cm long. The central leaflet has a longer stalk than the lateral leaflets. Flowerheads are racemes to 25 cm long, with white to pink pea-like flowers to 5 mm long. Pods are narrow, segmented and to 20 mm long. Flowering is year-round. Found in native and naturalized pastures, woodlands and forests. Rarely common. Native biodiversity. Plants have low digestibility, but are palatable and have high crude protein levels. Pod segments are sticky and spread by adhesion to passing animals. Very tolerant to grazing once a good taproot is established, but will decline under heavy constant grazing.
