December 2005 The Black-rumped flameback (Dinopium benghalense) is found in open forests and cultivated areas throughout the Indian subcontinent. The male has a red crown while the female has a dark 'forehead" and red rear half crown. The angle of the bird above makes it difficult to determine the sex.
