On one such day I visited a dolomite glade complex later in the evening in hopes of seeing basking coachwhips. One evaded us under a ledge in tall grass. Some time later a friend flipped this young snake under a small, flat rock on a North-facing glade, still catching the heat of the sun. Washington County, Missouri.
