Little Blue Heron - winter plumage
Description:
Description: At first blush it looks like a Snowy Egret, but the bill and legs quickly give up the species. The juvenile Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) is always white until April, when it starts to molt to that beautiful blue-gray. The gray bill is tipped in black and slightly decurved. Light green legs complete the picture. Might have been a good photo if the focus was on the bird rathe that the nicely broken reflection. Taken at Holiday Cove, Tarpon Springs, FL.
