Description: Earthstar fungus (Geastrum saccatum) found in Badangi Reserve, Wollstonecraft. The plant growing over the right hand edge of the fungus is Commelina cyanea which is common in the area. The species is either G. triplex (also known as G. indicum in Australia) or G. saccatum. The lack of a saucer and the size suggests saccatum - triplex is usually larger, and often has a saucer between the ball and the arms. Date: 21 July 2007. Source: Own work. Author: Mike Young.
