Winter melon - first frost - P1100569

Description:
Description: English: A winter melon on the vine in late October, after the first mild frost has killed the leaves. Bloomington, Indiana. English: The shape of the fruit illustrates the change of weather over August-October. This particular fruit started growing in August, when conditions were difficult for the plant (too dry); thus the "older" section of the fruit is thinner than the rest of it, which developed later, when the conditions improved. Date: 22 October 2011. Source: Own work. Author: User:Vmenkov.
