Description:

Kampung Akar Peluru, Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia.Lepisanthes rubiginosa (Roxb.) Leenh. Sapindaceae. CN: [Malay - Mertajam, Terajam, Kelat layu, Katilaju; Borneo - Borobogan, Damai, Kundurui, Lipupudsu, Suang rason], Rusty sapindus. Native to India, southern China, Indo-China, Malesia biogeographic region. Understorey tree up to 12 m tall and 39 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, compound, leaflets penni-veined, hairy. Flowers ca. 7 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 14 mm long, red, drupes. Leaves and roots used in folk medicine. Fruit a drupe; aril edible, sweet-subacidic and astringent, unpalatable and low appeal.
