This highly-magnified digitally-colorized scanning electron micrograph (SEM) revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology displayed on the rostral head region of a bedbug, Cimex lectularius. Note the distal anatomical relationships the insects skin piercing mouthparts it uses to obtain its blood meal.
