This species is recorded from most of Canada, and the northern half of United States. In Alberta, records are from Jasper (Lindroth 1969) and southern, central and northern Alberta.

General Description

Short and flat; piceous to black; sides of prothorax broadly translucent; elytra never with defined shoulder macula; 1st antennal segment much longer than 3rd; elytra often with paler base; small, sharp denticle in hind angles of pronotum; elytra short, clearly widening behind middle, strial punctures as coarse as those on intervals, apex truncate and slightly sinuate. Wing-dimorphic species, with populations intermixed. (Lindroth 1969)
