Familia: BETULACEAEDistribucin: Planta eurosiberiana, distribuida por buena parte de Europa, haciendose ms rara en la regin Mediterrnea. En la Pennsula Ibrica es ms frecuente en la mitad N del territorio, aunque baja hacia el S en algunos puntos. En Aragn aparece tanto en el Alto Pirineo como Prepirineo, por donde alcanza el valle del Ebro en Monzn o en Fonz. En el Sistema Ibrico habita en el Moncayo, sierras de Cucaln y Fonfra, Albarracn, Gdar-Maestrazgo y Javalambre, o Puertos de Beceite.Hbitat: Puede formar bosquetes monoespecficos, avellanares, que se refugian en fondos de barrancos y aparece en bosques de ribera y orlas o setos de bosques caducifolios, siempre en ambiente frescos y sombros.
