edit] This is a photograph of the female form 'romulus' of the Common Mormon,
Papilio polytes, a beautiful butterfly of the Swallowtail family (Papilionidae) native to India. The butterfly belongs to Papilio (Blackbodied Swallowtails) genus of butterflies. This image is loaded under the name 'TS009_Papilio_polytes_female_form_romulus.jpg'. Mimicry[
edit] The female form romulus mimics the Crimson Rose (Pachliopta hector) of the Pachliopta (Red Bodied Swallowtails) genus, which are inedible. This mimicry increases the survival chances of this form of female Common Mormon. Associated images[
