Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Feeds mainly on bloodworms (Chironomidae), blackfly larvae (Simuliidae), ostracods (Chydoridae) and mayflies (Ephemeroidea),

Found in primary peat. Bubble nest builder species (Ref. 57235).
