A medium-sized parasylvicolous species from central Cameroun. Males 21-28 mm, females 27-32.5 mm. Phase J: translucent green with white dorsolateral lines, very similar to ph. J of H. bolifambae and H. riggenbachi. Phase F: dorsum grey to yellow with round, red spots. Ventrum orange, flanks black with white specks (Schiøtz 2007, pers. comm., Amiet 2004).H. camerunensis is according to Amiet (2004) related to H. riggenbachi at higher altitude, and H. bolifambae at lower altitude.

Distribution and Habitat

Western and southwestern Cameroon, in the foothills of the Dorsale Camerounaise, from 450-1,200 m in elevation. Found in "farmbush" and degraded secondary forest, near streams.
