Maximum longevity: 3 years (captivity)
Observations: These animals are short-lived in captivity with a record longevity of 3 years (Richard Weigl 2005). Without more detailed studies, however, their maximum longevity could be underestimated, and some anecdotal reports suggest they may live up to 4 years.
