Maximum longevity: 2.2 years (captivity)
Observations: In the wild, these animals have been estimated to live up to 2.5 years (Bernhard Grzimek 1990), which could be overestimated. In captivity, they do not appear to live more than 2.2 years (Richard Weigl 2005), though some anecdotes indicate a longer lifespan.
