Syngnathus abaster (Black Striped Pipefish) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family Syngnathidae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are carnivores. Individuals can grow to 21 cm. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is iteroparous and ovoviviparous.
