Description

Small succulent shrub with sprawling woody stems bearing numerous leaf scars, or small tree, to 1.5 m. Leaves broadly obovate, sessile or subsessile, clustered near the stem apex; petiole winged. Corolla white or greenish, up to 2.3 cm long; lobes up to 1 cm with whitish crenulate margins. Fruit black or bluish, ellipsoid or spherical.

Worldwide distribution
provided by Flora of Zimbabwe
Widespread on African coasts from Somalia south to the Cape and in W Africa from S. Tomé to Angola. Also in the Mascarenes, Sri Lanka, Florida and tropical S America.
