This a deep water shell - 100m plus. For some reason, which I haven't worked out yet, deepwater shells and fish are red - but red colours can't be seen down there, so why?

This shell normally has long curly spines, but this one has lived its life in turbulent waters.

This shell lives in deep calm water...strangely, because the red colouration can't be seen at that depth...so why does it do it?
