Anacyclus monanthos is acaulescent and villous. It is annual and often with branches arising from the axils of the rosette leaves. Branches if appear further branched and slightly grooved. Leaves (1-5 x 0.2-2.5 cm)spathulate in outline and petiolate in rosettes in acaulescent plants or alternate on the branches which are (2-3-pinnatisect). Ultimate lobes (1-4.5 x 0.5) mm, oblong-linear and mucronate. Inflorescence is a contracted cyme with radiating peduncles emerging from a reduced central stem. Peduncles 0 or up to 1 cm sometimes contracted to form a central synflorescence of 2-6 capitula or a single syncepha-lum 0.4-2.4(-3.5) cm, with 1-9 branches and 3-6(-12) terminal capitula, sparsely to densely villous. Phyllaries 3-seriate and (2.5-4.5 x 0.5-2) mm, the outer triangular. Inner phyllaries broadly triangular to oblong-linear, densely villous, scarious and green to brown above, thick below and margins are laciniate. The apex acuminate. Paleae (3-4 x 0.6-2) mm and broadly obovate. The apex long-ciliate, cuspidate and canaliculate. Florets (3-4) mm. They are discoid, bisexual, homomorphic and 5-lobed. Achenes (1.8-2.5 x 1-2.5) mm., broadly obovate, the lateral wings (0.1-0.5) mm., thick, with toothed margin and pappus absent.
