Diagnosed from other species of Barbus and Luciobarbus in Balkan Peninsula by the possession of the following characters: 47-55 + 2-3 scales on lateral line; 10-12 scale rows between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 7-9 scale rows between lateral line and pelvic fin origin; head, body and fins with numerous small black dots, larger and darker on back; last simple dorsal ray weak, not serrated posteriorly; simple pelvic ray about as long as second branched ray; and poster margin of dorsal straight to slightly concave (Ref. 59043).

Inhabits lakes and rivers. Prefers stretches with clear water and riffles in streams and rivers. Widely distributed and locally abundant, but populations are greatly fragmented and several of them are facing potential threat as many small streams turn dry during summer. Reaches up to about 25 cm SL (Ref. 59043).

Barbus peloponnesius es una especie de peces de la familia de los Cyprinidae en el orden de los Cypriniformes.

Morfología

Los machos pueden llegar alcanzar los els 10 cm de longitud total.[3]​

Hábitat

Es un pez de agua dulce.[4]​

Distribución geográfica

Es endémica del oeste de Grecia desde el río Thiamis hasta el Peloponeso. Además, ha sido introducida artificialmente en el río Isonzo (noreste de Italia) y en Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Hungría, Bulgaria, Rumania, Polonia y Ucrania.

Vissen

Barbus rebeli is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van eigenlijke karpers (Cyprinidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1926 door Koller.

De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2010.[1]
