Steinchisma laxum (Lax Gaping Grass) is a species of perennial herb in the family true grasses. They are native to Ceará, Amazônia, Puerto Rico, Cerrado, Sergipe, Maranhao, Piauí, Mato Grosso, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande Do Norte, Caatinga, Alagoas, ParaíBa, Roraima, Acre (Brazil), Tocantins, Bahia, Pará, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso Do Sul, GoiáS, Pernambuco, RondôNia, Rio Grande Do Sul, Espirito Santo, Amapá, Paraná, Santa Catarina, SãO Paulo, Minas Gerais, and U.S. Virgin Islands. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.71 m.
