Hylomyscus aeta és una espècie de rosegador de la família dels múrids. Són rosegadors de petites dimensions, amb una llargada de cap a gropa de 77 a 97 mm, una cua de 131 a 140 mm, peus de 17,5 a 20,4 mm i orelles de 15 a 16 mm.^[1] Aquesta espècie es troba a Burundi, al Camerun, a la República Centreafricana, a la República del Congo, a la República Democràtica del Congo, a Guinea Equatorial, al Gabon i a Uganda. Els seus hàbitats naturals són boscos humits de terres baixes tropicals o subtropicals, i boscos montans humits tropicals o subtropicals.^[2]

Descrizione

Dimensioni

Roditore di piccole dimensioni, con la lunghezza della testa e del corpo tra 77 e 97 mm, la lunghezza della coda tra 131 e 140 mm, la lunghezza del piede tra 17,5 e 20,4 mm e la lunghezza delle orecchie tra 15 e 16 mm.^[3]

Aspetto

Le parti superiori sono giallo-brunastre, con dei riflessi nerastri lungo la schiena, i fianchi sono più chiari, mentre le parti ventrali sono bianche, con la base dei peli grigia. Sono presenti degli anelli più scuri intorno agli occhi. Le orecchie sono bruno-grigiastre. Le zampe anteriori sono biancastre, i piedi sono biancastri con una linea dorsale più scura. La coda è più lunga della testa e del corpo ed è uniformemente marrone. Le femmine hanno un paio di mammelle post-ascellari e 2 paia inguinali. Il cariotipo è 2n=52-54 FN=78-86.

È una specie arboricola e notturna.

Distribuzione e habitat

Questa specie è diffusa nell'Africa centrale.

Vive nelle foreste montane miste a vegetazione arbustiva tra i 1.200 e 2.100 metri di altitudine.

Stato di conservazione

La IUCN Red List, considerato il vasto areale e la popolazione numerosa, classifica H.aeta come specie a rischio minimo (LC).^[1]

Verspreiding

Deze soort komt voor van Kameroen en Gabon tot West-Oeganda en Noordwest-Burundi, inclusief het eiland Bioko. Deze soort leeft in het regenwoud.

Soortenbeschrijving

Samen met Hylomyscus grandis uit Mount Oku (Kameroen) vormt hij de H. aeta-groep. De soorten uit deze groep hebben geen mammae op de borst en verschillen van andere groepen in een aantal schedel- en tandkenmerken. H. grandis werd oorspronkelijk beschreven als een ondersoort van H. aeta, maar heeft een grotere schedel en grotere kiezen.

Hylomyscus aeta^[2] är en däggdjursart som först beskrevs av Thomas 1911. Hylomyscus aeta ingår i släktet Hylomyscus och familjen råttdjur.^[3][4] IUCN kategoriserar arten globalt som livskraftig.^[1] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.^[3]

Denna gnagare förekommer i centrala Afrika från Kamerun och Kongo-Brazzaville till Uganda och Rwanda. Den hittas även på Bioko. Förekomsten i södra Kongo-Kinshasa är inte bekräftad. Arten lever främst i låglandet och i låga bergstrakter upp till 1200 meter över havet. I Burundi når Hylomyscus aeta 2100 meter över havet. Habitatet utgörs av skogar och av regioner med träd och buskar. Individerna går främst på marken men kan klättra i växtligheten.^[1]
