Thrigmopoeus truculentus is een spinnensoort in de taxonomische indeling van de vogelspinnen (Theraphosidae).[2]
Het dier behoort tot het geslacht Thrigmopoeus. De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1899 door Mary Agard Pocock.
De soort komt voor in een strook langs de zuidwestelijke kust van India. De populatietrend is dalend. De spin staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als gevoelig.[1]
