Brief Summary

provided by EOL authors

Phallus indusiatusis a species of Agaricomycetes of the family Phallaceae. The stipe is up to 25 centimetres in height and the cap reaches a maximum of 4 centimetres tall. Its most distinguishing feature is the porous, skirt-like indusium that extends from the cap. The indusium reaches down to the volva in mature specimens. When young, they are encased in an egg-like universal veil. It secretes putrid, green-brown gleba from its cap and the smell attracts flies which disperse the spores. The geographical range is tropical environments all through and around the equator.
