Malapterurus electricus (African Electric Catfish) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family electric catfishes. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Ethiopia. They are nocturnal carnivores. Individuals can grow to 122 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on swimming to move around.
