Erect or procumbent annual herb. Stems up to 45 cm long, quadrangular, more or less densely pubescent. Leaves linear-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic or ovate, 3-11 cm long, hairless to pubescent, particularly on the veins; margin entire, rolled under. Flowers solitary, sessile or on short lateral spur branchlets. Bracts greenish to pale brown with purple-brown veins and bristles, more or less broadly elliptic-obovate, puberulous, ciliate with a long reflexed tip about half the length of the bract, bearing 7-17 rough bristles, 1-4 mm long. Corolla white to blue or mauve with darker veins, 11-14 mm long; lip obovate-spathulate, 5-7 mm wide. sparsely hairy below, central lobe largest.
