Plants annual, 40-60 cm tall. Stem erect, robust, fleshy, branched in upper part. Leaves alternate; petiole 5-12 cm, brown pilose; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate-oblong or elliptic, 12-15 × 5-6.5 cm, rigidly papery, puberulent on veins, lateral veins 9-12 pairs, base attenuate into petiole, with 1 or 2 pairs of stipitate globose glands, margin serrulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences at apex of stem or in upper leaf axils, racemose, many flowered; peduncles erect, longer than petioles, 5-12 cm. Pedicels 1.3-2 cm, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate-lanceolate, ca. as long as pedicels, herbaceous. Flowers yellow, large, 4-5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: subovate, 1.5-2 cm × 5-6 mm, apex acuminate, abaxial midvein not thickened; inner 2: linear-oblong, ca. 15 × 3-4 mm, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal saccate-funnelform, 3-3.5 cm deep, narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 1/2 as long as limb; mouth oblique, tip acuminate, 2-2.5 cm wide. Upper petal elliptic or obovate, ca. 1.2 cm, apex mucronulate; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes obovate-cuneate; distal lobes curved, ± clawed, dolabriform, longer; auricle absent. Filaments fibrous, ca. 5 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule not seen. Fl. Oct.
