Plants annual, 30-50 cm tall. Stem erect or rarely basally ascending, green, often black spotted in lower part, succulent, simple or sometimes branched, basal nodes swollen, with many fibrous roots. Leaves alternate, or crowded in upper part of stem; petiole 1.5-2.5 cm; leaf blade pale green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, membranous, without basal glands, both surfaces glabrous, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, curved, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin coarsely crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, subracemose, (1 or)2- or 3(or 4)-flowered; peduncles conspicuously shorter than leaves, slender. Pedicels 0.5-1.2 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, pink, broadly ovate-cordate, ca. 8 × 7 mm, thinly membranous, apex mucronulate. Flowers pink, ca. 3.5 cm in diam. Lateral sepals 2, oblong-ovate, 8-9 × ca. 7 mm, apex inconspicuously mucronulate. Lower sepal narrowly funnelform, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 2.5 cm; mouth oblique, tip mucronulate. Upper petal suborbicular, ca. 1.2 × 1.4 cm, base slightly cordate, apex retuse, abaxial midvein narrowly carinate; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 1.7 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes oblong-obovate, small, ca. 4 mm; distal lobes broadly dolabriform, 1.7-1.8 cm wide, apex obtuse; auricle inflexed, lunar. Filaments linear; anthers ovoid, small, apex obtuse. Filaments linear; anthers ovoid, small, apex obtuse. Ovary erect, fusiform, 2-9 mm. Capsule linear, ca. 2 cm. Fl. and fr. Jun-Aug.
