Plants annual, 30-90 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, stout, basally long naked, laxly branched. Leaves alternate, often crowded at apex; petiole 1-2 cm, slender; leaf blade pale green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate, 5-10 × 2.5-4 cm, thinly membranous, often with 2 stipitate basal glands, lateral veins 6-8 pairs, fine, base cuneate, margin coarsely crenate, apex acute. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 1-3-flowered; peduncles shorter than petioles at anthesis, fibrous, 2- or 3-divaricate. Pedicels short, bracteate at base; bracts persistent, linear, very small. Flowers yellow, small. Lateral sepals 2, ovate-cordate, 3-4 mm, 3-veined, apex glandular. Lower sepal narrowly funnelform, ca. 2 cm deep, with an incurved spur; mouth oblique, tip acute. Upper petal oblate, ca. 8 mm in diam., base cordate, apex retuse, recurved-mucronulate, abaxial midvein with a small sac at middle; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 3 mm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular; distal lobes ca. 2 × as large as basal lobes, obovate; auricle denticulate. Filaments short, broad; anthers acute. Ovary erect, 5-striate. Capsule (immature) linear. Fl. Aug-Sep.
