Abutilon karachianum Husain & Baquar

Perennial herb or shrub, c.½-2½ m tall, stellate pubescent. Leaves 3-13 an long, 3-15 cm broad, usually ovate to broadly ovate, cordate at base, long acuminate at apex, irregularly and coarsely serrate, stellate pubescent on both sides, scabrulous above, particularly older ones, velvety and more densely hairy beneath, sometimes 3 angular towards the apex, 7-9-nerved; petiole up to 16.5 cm long; stipules 7-10 mm long, 1 mm broad, linear, reflexed. Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicel 1-2 cm long, in fruit up to 4 cm, articulate near the apex. Calyx 1-1.2 cm long, fused to the middle, pubescent on both sides; lobes lanceolate to deltoid, long acuminate, 4-7 mm broad. Corolla 2-4 cm across, yellow; petal 10-17 mm across, obovate, staminal column 5-6 mm long, stellate pubescent. Fruit 1-15 cm across, younger ones always narrower at the top than below (tapering), furrows and ridges distinct towards the apex only, separating after dehiscence, stellate pubescent, mericarps 21-24, mucronate on the back, 7-10 (-11) mm long, 5-6 (-7) broad. Seeds 3 per mericarp, 2-2.5 mm across, reniform pubescent.
