Monomorphic, monokaryotic throughout life cycle; small merogonial plasmodia; sporogony is disporoblastic but spores ultimately lie in individual sporophorous vesicles; sporophorous vesicle is blisterlike, attached at intervals to exospore; spores, 6 x 3 µm, ellipsoid and uninucleate, are occasionally attached in doublets; polar tube is isofilar with 15-18 turns in single rank; type species B. singularis Larsson, 1981 in adipose tissue, ovary and hypodermis of Daphnia pulex (Cladocera, Daphniidae).
