Peltospiridae is a small family of gastropods that used to belong to the clade Vetigastropoda (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005), but is now included in the clade Neomphalina[2]
This family has no subfamilies.

Les Peltospiridae sont une famille de mollusques gastéropodes marins de l'ordre des Neomphalida.
Ce sont pour la plupart des espèces abyssales vivant près des cheminées hydrothermales. Certaines espèces ont la capacité d'intégrer des métaux à leur coquille[1], sous forme de pyrite (FeS2) et de greigite (Fe3S4)[2]. Cette structure inspire actuellement la recherche militaire pour confectionner de nouveaux types d'armures[3].

Peltospiridae (лат.) — семейство морских брюхоногих моллюсков. Ранее его включали в кладу Vetigastropoda (в соответствии с классификацией брюхоногих по Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005), но в настоящее время относят к подклассу Neomphalina. Включает глубоководный вид Crysomallon squamiferum — единственный известный науке организм, у которого одним из материалов скелета служат сульфиды железа[1][2].
На декабрь 2018 года в семействе не выделяют подсемейств и включают 12 родов[3]:
Кладограмма на основе последовательностей гена цитохрома с-оксидазы I, показывает филогенетическое отношения внутри Peltospiridae[4]. Lacunoides и Cyathermia иногда включают в Neomphalidae, но согласно анализу генов COI, они группируются в Peltospiridae[5].
