They are native to Chad, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Gambia, Senegal, Kenya, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Niger, Uganda, Benin, Tanzania, Cameroon, and Mali. They are diurnal omnivores. Individuals are known to live for 286.8 months and can grow to 1460 mm. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care).
