Pteropus tonganus (Insular Flying Fox) is a species of bats in the family Old World fruit bats. They are listed in cites appendix i. They are found in australasia and Oceania continent (Australia, NZ and islands). They visit flowers of kapoktree, Syzygium inophylloides, and Coconut. They are crepuscular herbivores. Individuals can grow to 177.32 mm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on flight to move around.
