Known from central Argentina surrounding the Salinas de Ambargasta (Córdoba, La Rioja, San Juan, Catamarca, and Santiago del Estero Provinces) and from southern Bolivia, in the Department of Santa Cruz (at 200m asl).

Diagnostic Description

Adult morphology Snout-vent of about 40-45 mm. Head wide, with very short snout, sharply truncate; nose strongly protruding on the lower jaw. Nostrils swelling, opening anteriorly. Interocular distance larger than the internarial interval and narrower than the upper eyelid. Canthus rostralis indistinct; loreal region vertical. Maxillary teeth weak: no vomerine teeth present. Eyes prominent, laterally located. Tongue moderately wide, oval, free behind. Tympanum concealed; dermal supratympanic fold faint; glands at the mouth joint present. Fingers slightly fringed; rate of the finger lengths: II-IV-I-III. Metacarpal and subarticular tubercles as in Pleurodema nebulosum. Toes slightly webbed at the base and fringed; metatarsal tubercles as in Pleurodema nebulosum. No tarsal fold evident. When hindleg is adpressed, heel reaches the axial. When the femurs are bent at right angles to body, the tibio-tarsal articulations fail to meet. Smooth folded skin on the dorsum, longitudinally scattered with scanty flat warts; ventrally smooth; lower surface of thigh coarsely granular. No lumbar glands; nuptial pads brownish, inconspicuous; gular skin folded in males. Coloration: Dorsally grayish, scantily spotted. Belly white.
