Cacama valvata, the most widespread Cacama species, is known from Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah (U.S.A.) and Mexico. It occurs in desert and chaparral and is associated with Opuntia cacti. The song is a resonant oscillating whine. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013; Hill et al. 2015)..
