Satyrium edwardsii is a resident of northeastern United States and into southeastern Canada (Scott 1986). Habitats are oak woodland, often sandy soil or on ridges. Host plants are trees, largely restricted to one genus, Quercus (Fagaceae). Eggs are laid on twigs of the host plant, singly. Individuals overwinter as eggs. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time late June-early Aug in the northern part of the range and May15-July15 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
