體長14-19公釐。體赭色、橘或紅色，具有不同大小的藍斑或黑斑。體背花紋變異大。前胸背板前緣及邊緣，與中央區同色，絕不呈黑色。

此種為多食性物種，以樹木與灌木為食。中國曾記載木蘭科(Magnoliaceae)黃山木蘭(Magnolia cylindrica E.H. Wilson)、厚樸( Magnolia officinalis Rehder & E.H. Wilson)、胡桃科( Juglandaceae)核桃類(Juglans spp.)、茶科(Thaeceae)油茶(Camellia oleifera Abel)及其他油茶類(Camellia spp.)、木荷類(Schima spp.)、 梧桐科(Sterculiaceae)兩廣梭羅(Reevesia thyrsoidea Lindl.)、漆樹科 (Anacardiaceae)芒果(Mangifera indica L.)、芸香科(Rutaceae)柑橘類(Citrus spp.)、 八角楓科(Alangiaceae)華八角楓(Alangium chinense (Lour.) Harms)、茄科(Solanaceae)煙草(Nicotiana tabacum L.)。台灣則記錄有桑科(Moraceae)桑樹(Morus sp.)、榆科(Ulmaceae) 朴樹(Celtis sinensis Pers.)、木蘭科(Magnoliaceae)烏心石(Michelia compressa (Maxim.) Sarg. var. formosana Kaneh.)。[出現季節:4-8月(根據檢視標本的採集資訊）]。

Poecilocoris druraei

Poecilcoris druraei is a species of jewel bug described by Carl Linnaeus in 1771.[1] It is in the family Scutelleridae and is native to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand.[2]

Taxonomy

Poecilcoris druraei has no subspecies, hower it does have one junior synonym, P. watanabei (Matsumura,1913) due to a misidentification.[3]

Poecilcoris watanabei

The male "holotype" of P. watanabei is discovered sometime after the first description of it by Shonen Matsumura in 1913. Upon it, this holotype is almost the same to P. druraei, although the description of P. watanabei matches.[3]

Ecology

Poecilcoris druraei thrives on Morus alba, Camellia oleifera, and Camellia sinensis.[2]
