Oreichthys coorgensis is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following characters: 22-23+1-2 scales in the longitudinal series with 5-8 pored scales; ½3/1/2½ scales in thetransverse row; 6-7 predorsal scales; and a faint black spot on the caudal fin base, which may not be consistent (Ref. 99423).Description: Dorsal-fin rays iii, 9; anal-fin rays ii, 7; pectoral-fin rays i,10; pelvic-fin rays i, 7 (Ref. 99423).
