Atlapetes semirufus (Boissonneau)
Mr. William H. Phelps, Jr., informs us that in the mountains near Caracas, Venezuela, at about 1600 to 1700 meters, he observed young shiny cowbirds (M. bonariensis venezuelensis) attended and fed by this species (race A. semirufus denisei). Paul Schwartz also reports this bird as a victim of the shiny cowbird at Caracas. These records add this finch to the known hosts of the parasite.
