Original diagnosis by Kinberg (1857: 13): "Corpus longum, depressum, segmentis rectangulis; lobus cephalicus magnus rotundatus, carunculo mediocri, minute lobato; antennae et palpi a segmento primo orientes; cirrus dorsualis unicus; setae pedum dorsualium aliae lineares subarticulatae, aliae subbifidae, serratae ramo altero brevissimo, l. rarius, earum loco, lineares; ventralium bifidae. Branchiae in nostris inde a segmento tertio."
