體中等大,較高,側扁,後部略細。頭大,長形。吻短,鈍圓。眼大。口大,上頜骨狹長而延伸至前鰓蓋後緣,末端不擴大;上下頜具絨毛狀齒,前部齒較大,鋤骨無齒,腭骨齒後部小或無。體被大而薄圓鱗,易脫落;側線平直。背鰭單一,位於體中部,具軟條14,後部另具一脂鰭;臀鰭基底略短於背鰭基底,具軟條12-13;尾鰭叉形,尾鰭副鰭條柔軟。各部位之發光器位置於下:鼻部背位發光器(Dn)小而圓形,位於眼前上方;鼻部腹位發光器(Vn)小而長圓形,位於眼前緣垂直線之後下方;眶下位發光器(So)小而圓形,邊緣具黑色素,位於瞳孔中心緣之後下方;鰓蓋位發光器(Op)2個,位於前鰓蓋後緣下方,Op1較Op2小,均在眼眶下緣縱線之下;鰓被架位發光器(Br)3個;胸鰭上方發光器(PLO)位於胸鰭基上緣,其下方有一發光鱗;胸鰭下方發光器(PVO)2個,PVO2位於胸鰭基中部前方,兩者與PO1成一斜線;胸部發光器(PO)5個,PO4位置昇高;腹部發光器(VO)5個,前三個依續昇高,排列呈一斜線,後二個沿腹緣排列;腹鰭上位發光器(VLO)位於腹鰭和側線之間,接近腹鰭基部;臀鰭上方發光器(SAO)3個,三者排列略呈彎線狀,SAO1位於VO5的後上方,SAO3位側線下方約發光器直徑的2倍處;體後側位發光器(Pol)1個,在脂鰭下方,側線下方約發光器直徑的2倍處,與AOp排列呈半弧形;臀鰭前部發光器(AOa)6個,AOa1位置昇高,但不超過SAO2,AOa6亦昇高,六者排列呈半弧形;臀鰭後部發光器(AOp)4個,沿尾柄腹側水平狀排列;尾鰭前位發光器(Prc)4個,四個依次昇高呈半弧形排列,Prc4在側線下方約發光器直徑的2倍處。尾部發光腺無。

棲地

大洋性中、底層巡游魚類,具日夜垂直分布習性,白天一般白天棲息於485-1,500公尺處,晚上則上游至水深100公尺附近處覓食,以小蝦等甲殼類為食。

Diaphus aliciae is a species of lanternfish found in the Indo-Pacific. Along with the South China Sea.[1]

Size

This species reaches a length of 6.0 cm (2.4 in).[2]

Etymology

The fish is named in honor of American herpetologist Alice Boring (1883–1955), of Yenching University, Beijing, China.[3]
