體呈橢圓形,高而甚側扁;體長為體高之2.1-2.2倍。頭小。吻短。眼中大。口小,端位;上下頜可伸縮,均無齒。鰓被架6。體被小圓鱗,易脫落;側線明顯。背鰭及臀鰭高且長,似帆狀,兩者之基部俱鱗鞘,背鰭具II棘,33-34軟條,臀鰭I棘,24-25軟條;腹鰭無棘,
8-9軟條; 尾鰭分叉。脊椎骨數(腹部16,尾部17-18)
。鰾發達,末端分叉且延伸到肛門之後。體側及尾柄共有8條深綠色縱帶。背、臀及腹鰭黃綠色至深綠色,膜上具深色紋;胸及尾鰭黃色。
棲地

主要棲息於大陸棚斜坡砂泥底質水域,棲息深度約在20-110公尺間。生態習性不甚清楚。
