Gadomus colletti Jordan & Gilbert 1904

Bones of head rather firm and not cavernous. Snout low, not blunt at tip, decidedly shorter than diameter of orbit and not protruding beyond mouth; width at frontal margin of orbit slightly wider than 1/2 length of snout. Mouth large, terminal, and lateral; teeth in villiform bands on both jaws. No teeth on vomer or palatine. Barbel filamentous, about as long as, or a little shorter than length of head. Gill opening wide, extending to a vertical through center of pupil. Scales cycloid. Mandibular ramus provided with but 1 scale row. Color pale. Jaws white. All fins dusky; dorsal and anal fins darkening toward edge (Ref. 54421).

分布於西太平洋區，由日本南方、中國東海外緣、臺灣東北部至菲律賓等海域。

罕見魚種，僅有學術價值，一般以拖網船捕獲後，作為下雜魚用。

體型延長，側扁。頭大，尾細。口特大，端位；上下頜有細微之絨毛狀齒，多列排成齒帶；在頤部有一條粗大的長鬚。體被圓鱗，極易脫落。兩個背鰭間距很短，形成一明顯的凹刻；在第一背鰭、胸鰭及腹鰭各有一根延長的鰭條，其長度甚長。體呈白色，各鰭為淺棕色，而浸泡過酒精後的魚體呈膚色。

主要棲息於360-740公尺深的水層中，喜在泥砂混濁的深海底質上棲息覓食，為深海底棲性的魚類。以小型明蝦及磷蝦為主食。

Gadomus colletti is a species of rattail. This deep-water fish is found in the waters around Japan, the Philippines, and northern Taiwan.

This species grows to around 40 cm (15.7 in) in length. This is a very pale fish with darker fins and white jaws. The head, unlike in many deep-water species, has firm bones and the mouth is wide and terminal with bands of villiform (brushlike) teeth. A long, filamentous chin barbel and a wide gill opening are present.
