Description: Several geographical variations. Indonesian populations green with dusky bars when adult. Irian Jaya fish maybe more silvery with greenish bars that ranges from Japan to eastern Australia (Ref. 48636). Body depth 1.6-1.7 in SL. Suborbital scaled (Ref. 90102).

Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).

Occur inshore (Ref. 75154). Inhabit lagoons, coastal embayments, reef passages and outer reefs. Juveniles often found among Sarcophyton and Sinularia soft corals. Feeding aggregations are frequently observed over growths of the staghorn coral Acropora. Feed on plants and benthic invertebrates (Ref. 6110). The stomach contents of a specimen included larval crabs and shrimps, fish eggs, and algae. Diurnal species (Ref. 54980; 113699).

分布於印度-西太平洋區，由馬來西亞至薩摩亞，北自琉球群島，南至澳洲大堡礁。台灣分布於南部海域。

中小型之雀鯛，可食用，一般不為漁獲對象魚。有人將其作觀賞魚之用。

體呈卵圓形而側扁，標準體長為體高之1.6-1.7倍。吻短而略尖。眼中大，上側位。口小，上頜骨末端不及眼前緣；齒單列，齒端扁平而具缺刻。眶下骨被鱗，後緣則平滑；前鰓蓋骨後緣亦平滑。體被大櫛鱗；側線之有孔鱗片15-18個。背鰭單一，軟條部延長而呈尖形，硬棘XIII，軟條11-14；臀鰭硬棘II，軟條13-15；胸鰭鰭條16-17；尾鰭叉形，末端呈尖形，上下葉外側鰭條不延長呈絲狀。體呈黃綠色至褐色，體側具數條暗色寬帶；除胸及腹鰭淡色外，各鰭色深；胸鰭基底上方無小黑點。

主要棲息於潟湖、沿岸港灣、外海珊瑚礁區等較淺而有枝狀珊瑚的盤礁上活動。幼魚緊鄰珊瑚叢的枝椏上，成魚則稍高些，遇驚嚇或入夜後則躲入礁枝內棲息，垂直分布的範圍很窄。以浮游動物及絲狀藻類等為食。

Amblyglyphidodon curacao; also known as the staghorn damselfish , the clouded damselfish or the bare-snouted sergeant major; is a species of marine fish in the family Pomacentridae, the damselfishes and the clownfishes. It's widespread throughout the tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean. This species is a small sized fish that can reach a maximum size of 11 cm length.
